Designed for whatever the road throws your way. The traction selection system allows drivers to adjust the Sierra’s various systems such as traction control, stabilitrak, electronic power steering, transmission shift calibrations, and accelerator pedal response with a simple turn of a dial. Whether you are cruising down the highway, pulling a trailer, venturing out on snow covered roads, or hitting the trails off-road, the 2019 GMC Sierra has you covered. Choose one of the Sierra’s five professionally tuned traction settings:
The default mode for the 2019 Sierra, tour mode, is designed to deliver a blend of efficiency and refinement, perfect for everyday driving around town or on the highway.
Drivers looking for a more exciting feel can select sport mode. In sport mode, the 2019 Sierra will keep the engine in the optimal power band by downshifting when necessary. Also, the power steering assist is slightly reduced to deliver direct, communicative, sporty, handling.
The tow/haul setting is designed for use when trailering or carrying a large payload. By modifying the shift points, this mode helps the engine deliver peak power and reduce wear and tear on the standard braking system by downshifting quicker to leverage engine braking.
Tow/haul mode also allows the Sierra’s trailer sway control to respond quickly by working with the stabilitrak stability system to decrease engine power when trailer sway is detected to bring the trailer under control.
Available only on two-wheel drive Sierras, snow mode optimizes Sierra’s driveline for driving in wintry weather. This setting also provides a slower, less sensitive accelerator pedal calibration, allowing drivers to precisely apply the throttle to avoid wheel spin.
Off-road mode uses the same accelerator calibration as snow mode, giving the driver precise throttle control. Off-road mode also utilizes unique stabilitrak settings to allow a little more wheel slip in order to carry momentum over gravel or muddy terrain.
